OpenAI announced the consumer release called ChatGPT Images 2.0 on April 21, 2026. Separate developer documentation describes the API model gpt-image-2, which Gensta displays as GPT Image 2. Gensta's internal identifier, gpt_image_2, appears only in the model deep link. These names belong to different product surfaces; in this article, GPT Image 2 means Gensta's integration of the gpt-image-2 API model. Features of the ChatGPT interface must not be assumed to exist in Gensta.

What OpenAI officially confirms

According to the official model page, GPT Image 2 supports image generation and editing: it accepts text, can take images as input, and returns image output. OpenAI also describes flexible image sizes and high-fidelity image inputs. Its official prompting guide covers text-heavy layouts, multiple references, preserving important elements during edits, and choosing among low, medium, and high quality settings.

What is available specifically in Gensta

Gensta's integration supports two modes: generating from a text brief and editing uploaded images with text instructions. A run can request one to four outputs and use up to ten input images. The 1K, 2K, and 4K choices and low, medium, and high tiers are controls in the current Gensta integration. Web search is not connected for GPT Image 2 in Gensta.

How to use GPT Image 2 in Gensta

A reliable workflow starts with a clear brief, not a long “magic” prompt. Change one variable per iteration: this makes it easier to see what improved the result and avoids spending credits on random reruns.

1. Define the destination format Name the surface and aspect ratio first: a square marketplace card, a vertical 9:16 story, a 16:9 banner, or another layout. Leave safe margins for platform cropping.

2. Choose generation or editing A new visual needs only a brief. To change a product, portrait, or branded layout, upload the source and list what may change and what must stay fixed. Use only material for which you have the required rights and a lawful basis; obtain consent when applicable law and the service rules require it.

3. Approve composition first Begin with one output while the layout is unsettled. Do not order four costly finals before the idea is approved. Check the main object, hierarchy, negative space, and readability.

4. Add exact copy and constraints Put literal copy in quotation marks and specify language, line count, placement, and a ban on extra words. Proofread every character before publishing, even when the prompt is explicit.

5. Increase quality for the final stage Once the composition is approved, select the appropriate resolution and quality tier. Review at the actual destination size: 4K does not automatically repair misspelled copy or a weak layout. OpenAI's official guide calls sizes above 2560×1440 experimental and potentially more variable, so inspect a large final separately.

Low, medium, or high: a cost-aware iteration workflow

Quality tiers change cost and suit different stages. They do not guarantee that every high-tier output will beat every low-tier output: the brief, source material, and task still matter.

• Low. Sensible use: composition drafts, direction finding, and simple visuals without tiny copy. What to verify: do not judge fine lettering or subtle detail without testing the tier intended for delivery. • Medium. Sensible use: most digital assets after a direction is chosen. What to verify: copy, object edges, faces, and reference consistency. • High. Sensible use: final layouts, dense typography, complex composites, or important fine detail. What to verify: lock the brief first, because an expensive rerun cannot rescue contradictory instructions.

A practical sequence is one low-tier composition draft → one focused revision → a medium- or high-tier final candidate. Request several outputs only after the shared brief has stopped changing.

Six practical GPT Image 2 prompt recipes

The prompts below are editorial templates based on OpenAI's official guide. They were not run in Gensta while preparing this article and are not test results or a benchmark. Replace the values in square brackets. Avoid decorative filler: purpose, composition, literal copy, and exclusions are more useful than a generic “make it beautiful.” For edits, upload material you own and identify each input by number.

1. Product card with exact headline copy Create a square 1:1 product card for [marketplace]. Main object: [product], realistic studio lighting, fully visible, clean edges. Composition: the product occupies the right 60% of the frame; keep a calm area for copy on the left. Render exactly two lines and no extra words: "[PRODUCT NAME]" "[KEY BENEFIT]" Typography: bold modern sans serif, high contrast, correct spelling. Background: [color/material]. Brand palette: [HEX 1], [HEX 2]. Do not add logos, badges, prices, watermarks, or small print. Success criterion: the product is recognizable and both lines remain readable in a phone-size preview. Note: compare every character against the source copy. Add prices and mandatory legal copy in a layout editor when an error would be unacceptable.

2. Vertical event poster Create a vertical 9:16 poster for [event name]. Audience: [who will see it]. Mood: [three precise descriptors]. Top third — large headline: "[HEADLINE]". Middle — one expressive visual subject: [description]. Bottom third — two lines: "[DATE, TIME]" and "[VENUE]". Use only this copy and keep the stated order. Typography: geometric sans serif; headline at least twice the size of the date. Palette: [colors]. Keep 8% safe margins on all sides. No logos, QR codes, placeholder text, or watermarks. Note: do not generate the functional QR code inside the image. Add a verified code after export.

3. Simple infographic without invented data Create a landscape 16:9 infographic titled "[TOPIC]" for [audience]. Use only the facts below and add no new claims: 1. [FACT 1] 2. [FACT 2] 3. [FACT 3] Layout: headline at the top, followed by three equal cards from left to right. Each card contains a number, a short quoted title, and one simple pictogram. Exact headline: "[HEADLINE]". Style: clean editorial design, white background, [color] accents, large readable copy. No charts, percentages, links, logos, or extra claims. Note: the model creates the visual; it does not verify your claims. Check every number, label, and causal statement against a primary source.

4. Replace a product-photo background Image 1 is my source product photo. Change only the background: place the product on [new scene/surface]. Preserve the product shape, proportions, label, package spelling, color, camera angle, and framing. Match the new light and shadows to the original lighting direction. Do not add props in front of the product, new copy, logos, or watermarks. Keep package edges clean and maintain clear separation from the background. Note: if the label drifts, retry with the shorter “change only the background” instruction and repeat the preservation list.

5. Adapt an asset using several brand references Image 1 is the object that must be preserved. Image 2 is a color-palette reference. Image 3 is a composition and visual-rhythm reference. Create a new advertising visual in [format/aspect ratio]. Preserve the object from Image 1: shape, material, color, and recognizable details. Use only the palette from Image 2: [list colors]. Use only the composition principle from Image 3; do not copy its objects or text. Leave negative space on the [left/right] for a future headline, but render no copy. Do not add third-party logos, trademarks, or elements outside the brief. Note: use references you own or license. Replace “in the style of a living artist” with a description of concrete visual properties.

6. Four coordinated social campaign variants Create four variants of one 4:3 campaign visual for [product/service]. Keep these identical in every variant: main object [description], palette [colors], soft side lighting, empty logo area, and object scale. Change only the background: 1) [background A] 2) [background B] 3) [background C] 4) [background D] Keep the same empty headline area at the top-left of every image. Do not add copy, logos, watermarks, or new objects. The set must feel like one campaign rather than four unrelated brands. Note: up to four outputs per run is a current Gensta integration capability, but the model is not required to map one output to each A–D background. If all four directions are mandatory, use four separate runs with one background per request. Review the resulting set for consistency in either workflow.

How to edit an image without losing important details

Split an edit prompt into two parts: one allowed change and a list of invariants. “Change only X; preserve Y, Z, and W” is easier to inspect than a long description of an entirely new scene. OpenAI's prompting guide recommends repeating the preservation list on each iteration if drift appears.

Do not promise pixel-level identity before reviewing an output. For packaging, copy, a face, or a precise brand element, compare the source and result side by side. Apply critical logos and legal copy from master files after generation.

Edit template: Change only [ONE CHANGE]. Preserve without modification: [OBJECT/PERSON], geometry, camera angle, crop, lighting, color temperature, brand elements, and all original copy. Do not add new objects, text, logos, or watermarks.

If unrelated elements drift, reduce the request to one change and repeat the invariant list. This template was not run in Gensta while preparing the article.

GPT Image 2, Nano Banana, or Seedream 5 Pro: which Gensta workflow fits?

Without a controlled side-by-side test, there is no honest universal winner. The list below compares only modes and controls exposed by the current Gensta interface. Choose by workflow and run the same important brief on two candidates before committing.

For a text-heavy layout, GPT Image 2 belongs on the shortlist because OpenAI explicitly documents that workflow. When a task needs web data or more than ten references, Nano Banana Pro/2 exposes a different route in Gensta. Seedream 5 Pro returns one output per run and offers more aspect ratios but fewer resolution tiers. These are configuration differences, not a quality ranking.

Limitations and required review

GPT Image 2 can reduce manual production work, but it does not replace editorial review, design judgment, or rights checks. Verify the following before publishing.

• Copy can contain misspellings, extra characters, or incorrect line breaks. Proofread it character by character. • Tiny tables, long price lists, and legal disclaimers are safer to lay out over the generated background in a regular design tool. • An infographic can make a false statement look convincing. Use verified inputs and check every number. • Editing can alter a face, label, lighting, or geometry. State invariants explicitly and compare against the source. • Web search is not available for GPT Image 2 in the current Gensta integration; do not use the model as the only source for current facts. • Upload only images for which you have the required rights and a lawful basis. Obtain consent for an identifiable person's photo when applicable law and the service rules require it, avoid deceptive content, and do not present a synthetic image as documentary evidence.
